Props to Nikon’s service centre in Hong Kong.

A cruel challenge was set for me to take on – to dismantle a perfectly working Nikon D90 DSLR and paint it in the company colours. It was quite heart-breaking to it ripped apart with my own hands, although comforting to know that it wasn’t my own Nikon camera being taken down for the purpose of making it into a pink homemade limited edition DSLR. Would I do it on my own camera? Probably not. But the challenge was set, so I got on with it. Even though I did get an electric shock in the process (the expletives that came out of my mouth were beeped out on the video).

The problem didn’t really arise from taking it apart, like most things it’s a question of whether you can put it back together again. Like Humpty Dumpty (as I make analogous in the video) – you can cave a hole in his head, but you won’t be able to patch it back again. Even the King’s horses couldn’t do it. Watch this video to see what happened in this challenge and check out why we went to Nikon’s service centre. All I can say is that I appreciate Nikon HK for being incredibly understanding, even though a lot of story I told them were a bunch of porkies…
